What is Mangal Font? मंगल (फॉण्ट) क्‍या है?

Mangal font is Unicode. If you copy the Mangal font text and paste it in the mail then it comes in its original form due to Unicode.

It is mainly used for Hindi typing. Now it is also written in other Devanagari languages like Sanskrit, Marathi, Nepali, Punjab besides Hindi.

It is a very popular Hindi font and has been developed by Microsoft for use in the Windows user-interface. However it was initially created for the Windows system and now supported for Android, Windows, Linux, and Mac OS.

The Mangal font was created by Prof. Raghunath Krishna Joshi. Because of them, languages like Hindi and Marathi got a different identity on the Internet from today.

Why Government Exams are in Mangal Font?

Today Mangal font is being used in all government sectors. Because any sentence written in Unicode can be easily modified in another language. You can read it without installing any font.

Today Mangal font is used to send an email, type in Hindi and is mandatory for all government exams and office use. You can type in Hindi without installing Kruti Dev font in Microsoft Office.

Therefore, the government has made a typing test in Mangal font mandatory for new recruitment. Even on the internet now only Unicode is being used for Hindi.

Difference Between “Mangal” Font and “Kruti Dev” Font in Hindi Typing.

Mangal font is Unicode, but Kruti Dev font is not Unicode, if you copy the Kruti Dev text and paste it in the mail then it comes in its actual form as Kruti Dev is Hindi approach.
Mangal font requires a special layout named Devanagari, while Kruti Dev does not require any special layout.
Mangal font doesn’t have द्य and द्व while Kruti Dev font has.
If you want to write हि in Mangal font then you have to write ह first then ि, while in Krutidev you have to write ि first then ह.
In Mangal font, the half character will be typed with ्, while in Kruti dev half character will be typed with the shift.
In Mangal font, most of the half character merges with the full character such as द्द, while in Kruti dev there is no half character.
Mangal font has lesser characters as compared to Kruti Dev font.
